Why Sea Kayaking in Izu?

The Izu Peninsula is located in Shizuoka Prefecture, about a 4-hour drive from Tokyo.
It is well known for its hot springs, beautiful coastlines, beaches, and fresh seafood. For sea kayaking, the peninsula’s intricate coastline—stretching over 200 km—offers stunning views at every turn.
When snorkeling in the ocean, you may see many semi-tropical fish brought by the Kuroshio Current, also known as the Black Current.
Through kayaking, we are happy to introduce you to Japanese culture, the ocean, and the unique marine life of Izu.

SURFACE Kayak Guide Service provides guided sea kayaking tours with English-speaking guides who know the Izu area well.
We welcome a wide range of guests, from first-time paddlers and families to experienced kayakers.
Our tours include kayak gear, full instruction, and safety support. Lunch is included on selected full-day tours.
We focus on safety, comfort, and a relaxed pace, so you can enjoy the beautiful coastline of Minami Izu with confidence.
Whether it is your first time in a kayak or you are looking for a deeper paddling experience, we look forward to sharing the sea of Izu with you.

Our domestic travel insurance does not cover guests residing outside of Japan.
All guests residing outside Japan must obtain their own travel insurance prior to joining the tour.
Guests without valid insurance will not be permitted to participate.

2026.6.27
Due to the approach of two typhoons, a heavy rain warning has been issued for Minami-Izu today, June 27.
Because of the typhoon conditions, our tours scheduled for this weekend, June 27–28, have been cancelled.
We are planning to resume tours from Monday, June 29. Let’s hope for a break in the rainy season from the beginning of next week.
Summer bookings are starting to come in.
There is still plenty of availability, but please contact us or make your reservation early!
