Why Sea Kayaking in Izu?

The Izu Peninsula is located in Shizuoka Prefecture, about a 4-hour drive from Tokyo.
It is well known for its hot springs, beautiful coastlines, beaches, and fresh seafood. For sea kayaking, the peninsula’s intricate coastline—stretching over 200 km—offers stunning views at every turn.
When snorkeling in the ocean, you may see many semi-tropical fish brought by the Kuroshio Current, also known as the Black Current.
Through kayaking, we are happy to introduce you to Japanese culture, the ocean, and the unique marine life of Izu.

Our Service

SURFACE Kayak Guide Service provides guided sea kayaking tours with English-speaking guides who know the Izu area well.
We welcome a wide range of guests, from first-time paddlers and families to experienced kayakers.
Our tours include kayak gear, full instruction, and safety support. Lunch is included on selected full-day tours.
We focus on safety, comfort, and a relaxed pace, so you can enjoy the beautiful coastline of Minami Izu with confidence.
Whether it is your first time in a kayak or you are looking for a deeper paddling experience, we look forward to sharing the sea of Izu with you.

Our domestic travel insurance does not cover guests residing outside of Japan.
All guests residing outside Japan must obtain their own travel insurance prior to joining the tour.
Guests without valid insurance will not be permitted to participate.

August 13, 2026
Today, August 13, it looks like the long period of typhoon swell is finally coming to an end. Although the swell has kept us from paddling outside the bay and reduced the water visibility, the beautiful sea of Minami-Izu is finally returning.
As the Obon holiday approaches its final days, reservations are becoming a little quieter. We will do our best to accommodate last-minute bookings, so please don't hesitate to contact us!

Cool sea breezes continue to make the coastline much more comfortable than the hot cities. The water temperature has reached around 27°C (81°F), making it perfect for snorkeling.
Typhoon No. 17 Update:
Typhoon No. 17 is not expected to affect the southwest coast of the Izu Peninsula.
